Battle Tanks Global Assault - ": Global Assault" is the second game in the series, developed and published by 3DO. It was released for the Nintendo 64 on August 31, 1999. A PlayStation port was later released on February 29, 2000.
The sequel game expanded the series significantly. Several new tanks have been added, as well as some powerups and new game modes. New gangs make their appearance, some returning from the previous game. The number of playable maps has also increased, now including locations in Europe.
Battle Tanks Global Assault
The year is 2006, five years after the X-2 virus brought about the apocalypse. Griffin Spade managed to rescue his wife Madison from the clutches of several gangs across the United States. Two now rule the city of San Francisco, and Madison is its queen. They also have a son, Brandon, who is unusually intelligent and active for his age. Together, they hope to rebuild civilization among the ruins.

Lately, however, Griffin has been having nightmares about a Queenlord he's sure he's seen before. His instincts show that this is much more than a nightmare and that his family may now be in danger. Soon, he uncovers the truth of a threat greater than any he has faced before.
Global Assault is similar to its predecessor. The player(s) choose from a total of 12 different gangs to play as, each with different tanks and starting powerups. They compete against computer controlled armies or other players in a variety of game types.
The Global Assault campaign is split into 18 separate missions (plus one secret mission). As in the previous game, many of the objectives include defending specific objectives, destroying all enemies on the map, or successfully crossing a bridge. There are also now objectives such as destroying specific enemies or structures and escorting convoys to their destination.
Instead of gaining a certain amount of lives during the game, you can now choose your tanks by spending tank bucks. These can be found throughout the campaign and are also awarded for every 10,000 points you score. Each tank costs a certain amount of tank bucks, and if you can't afford any, it's game over. Not all tanks are available immediately and some are only available in multiplayer.

Global Assault also lets you play the campaign with a friend (but only 1 more). It works pretty much like single player, the main difference being that all tank bucks are shared.
